Balloon Fairy Strikes Again!

Happy Birthday Carter!

The balloon fairy paid us yet another visit last night, barely. This time it was for Carter's 3rd birthday! Yeah! The balloon fairy must have fallen asleep early because the next thing she knew it was 2:00 and she was fully dressed, sitting up in bed still waiting for the birthday boy to go to sleep. Her helper was asleep and did not want to get up and help. Thanks Hun! I think the fairy hid in my closet to blow them up, so not to wake anyone up.

Good thing she got it done before Tanner arose at 6:30 (WHAT?) He came in and said "Wow mom, Carter must have been good because he got the special black and silver balloons!" I was thinking more like she got them on the clearance shelf in the "Over the Hill" section. But whatever! Tanner's cup is always half full not half empty!

Toothless Wonder

Tanner lost his first tooth last night! He was getting ready to get in the bath and we were talking about how loose his tooth was. I told him to go get some floss and try to get around the loose tooth. On his second try out popped the tooth. I was so afraid that he would start to freak out when he saw the blood, but he was OK.

After he washed his mouth out a couple of times, he asked if tomorrow could be his special day. I asked him what he would do on his special day and he answered "I dunno, go to Arctic Circle or to the bounce place." What a simple answer. So tonight I guess we are going to eat at Arctic Circle (Not my first choice for a special day) but it is his day!

Carter's Hand Update

I took Carter to the burn clinic yesterday for his two week checkup. Good news! No skin graft as of right now. It doesn't mean that he won't need surgery in the future, but not now. The skin graft usually takes two to three weeks to heal and they think that his wounds will heal by them self in that same amount of time. So he wants to wait it out. If Carter wasn't such a good helper with his daily bandage changes and his physical therapy then the skin graft would be a definite.

The doctor is hoping that his ring finger doesn't have to much scar tissue and that he will have full mobility. He has two more appointments then he will be fitted for a glove that he will have to wear for the next six months to a year. This glove is used to keep the scarring to a minimum.

With going to the burn clinic each week and seeing all of the accidents that happen, I am just so thankful that Carter's finger's are healing so well. It breaks my heart to see all the kids in there with their burns.

Workin' Boys

Yeah, It's finally Spring! Which means yard work and finishing the backyard. Who ever knew that moving into a new house would be so much work. We started the backyard last year, but ran out of time and money to finish. It is our goal to finish it this year. Today, Clint and the boys started outlining the sandbox. We bought a big playground last year, but never set it up. The boys have been begging us ever since to. We are hoping to have it up next weekend! It will so nice to have somewhere to play, won't it kids?

Happy Birthday Tan-Tan!

Good Morning Birthday Boy!

Nanny trying to look tough with his balloon Armor!

Well the balloon fairy didn't fail to amaze me yet another year. Tradition started six years ago when Tanner turned one. The balloon fairy sneaks into the house some time after the birthday boy goes to bed and fills his room with balloons. This year the fairy left all different sizes. Tanner tried to stay up and catch her this year, but fell asleep just before midnight. Maybe next year Nanny! Tanner colored pictures for the fairy and left them on his door, so she would know where to go.

Tanner--Mommy and Daddy love you so much. You are one of the sweetest, most thoughtful boys alive. We love how you are so good with your brothers. They look up to you to be an example for them and you are doing an awesome job. Always keep that love in your heart. We are so glad that you are part of our family.

My cute parents invited us over for breakfast this morning to celebrate Tanner's birthday! We had all of his favorite foods: Pancakes, Bacon, Sausage, and Hash Browns. Thanks Mom and Dad.

After wards we had him open his presents. He was so sweet and let his younger brothers help him. He finally got the T-MAXX (aka expensive remote control car) that he has been asking for for a couple of years now. He must have been good!

Happy Birthday!

Happy 25th Birthday Cody and Wendy!

Today is Wendy's and Tuesday is Cody's! They were born three days apart the same year in the same hospital. What are the Odds? We love you both and hope that you are having a great time celebrating your days. My boys are so lucky to have you both in their life. You mean a lot to them.

I am so lucky that my two brothers married such great girls. I have two wonderful sister-in-laws, who are both pregnant and due around the same time. We are going to have two more boys this summer. How exciting! Do you think we will ever get a girl, though?

Happy Birthday Aaron!
We feel so bad that we didn't call you. Hope you had a great day.
We love you and your funny personality!
Has Reno 911 called you back for an interview yet?

Carter's Update

I took this picture right after I got done changing his bandage. He was like this the whole time. He also tries very hard to do his finger exercises with us. He can almost bend his fingers half way down to his palm. Mommy is so proud of her "Party Par". I know I would be a wuss if the tables were turned.

I think I got this whole bandage thing to an art. Each time I get a little bit better. His hand looks a little better with each new change. It will be interesting to see how his appointment goes next week. We pray that he will heal well and not have very much scarring.

Tonight when I got done with changing Carter's bandage, I was telling him how brave and strong I thought he was. He turned to me and said " Me's strong like Jackie Bauer" (aka 24's Jack Bauer). "Yep, you sure are sweetie" is all I could say while laughing. That is how you know that you watch to much 24, when your kids want to be like a CTU agent. Clint and I love 24! We have seen every season and can't wait till the next one.

GO JACK!

Oh No Not Carter!

Thanks to Uncle Cody, Aunt Wendy and Annie for the Balloons!
My poor little boy's hand. What a brave boy he is though.
As long as he has his thumb, his paa-paa (pillow) and a good movie, he is fine!

Late Monday night, I went down to my basement to jog on the treadmill. (I know big shock) Carter wanted to come down there and ride his bike. I got on the treadmill, put on my headphones and put on 24 to watch. About 15-20 minutes into my workout I turned around and saw the worst thing ever. Carter's little hand had gotten stuck between the treadmill belt and the base. He was screaming. I jumped off and pulled his hand out. The skin had been burned off of three of his fingers.

Clint came to the rescue. He was the one to clean and bandage him up. He gave him a very dear father's blessing and then Carter fell asleep in my arms. I took him to the doctors the next day to get it looked at. They made a appointment for him to go up to the U of U burn center. He was being treated for 3rd degree burns.

Thanks to the wonderful staff up at the U, Carter was able to seen right away. They cleaned his wounds and show us how to care for him during the couple of days. There may be chance that he will need to do a skin graft, but we won't know for a month or so.

Carter is such a brave little guy. Yeah he cried, but he tried so hard to hold still for the doctors to look at his fingers and to bandage them up. On the way home from the hospital last night, he even said that he Yiked (liked) the doctor. What a sweet boy! I love you Carter!

Aunt Wendy, Uncle Cody and Annie came over last night to lift Carter's spirit. They brought him over balloons (his favorite) and some treats. Thanks guys! We love you!
