SoJo Half Marathon

Back in October, I got this crazy idea to sign up to run a half marathon with my two of my bestest friends, Emily and Ariane, my brother Shane and my sister in law Emily.  I went into the race with absolutely no expectations other than to finish the race.  I did a 15K just a month earlier and survived.  I ran two long runs in between that race and this race, so I thought "hey, why not?"  Little did I know that 13.1 miles is FOREVER long!!!

Starting Line

Emily

Shane and Em

The Caboose
But hey I survived another race!!!
Finishing time 2:17:58

I did it!  I cried crossing the finish line.  I was so emotional!  I was the last in the group to finish but I didn't care at all.  All I kept thinking was I just ran a half marathon and I didn't die:)  Not sure if I will ever run another one, but I did it this time! Now I just need to figure out how to get this skinny again... hmmm

My first 15K

I did it!
I ran my first 15K!
I ran 9.3 miles.
Are you kidding me??? Up until this day, I had never ran more than 6 miles.  I signed up hoping that I could convince my friends to run it with me.  No luck!  I was so glad that I went through with it anyway.

It was so fun to turn this last corner and see my family standing there cheering me on.  I got tears in my eyes just seeing them with huge smiles on their faces.  I really could have sat down and cried my heart was so full, but I pushed on and finished.

Troy ran the last few feet and crossed the line with me!

My biggest fans! Tanner slept over at my parents house the night before the race and didn't get up in time to come with them.  Thanks kiddos for all the cheers!  Forever grateful for my family.  xoxo

St. George Marathon

I am more than two months behind on my blog...
When does life ever slow down long enough for me to catch up???  If I ever want to get caught up, I might have to skip some events or combine a few into one post.  Either way = No fun!

Back in October, over General Conference weekend, Clint, his mom, Troy, Carter and I went to St. George to watch him to run his 4th and final Marathon of the year!!!  Four marathons in one year.....REALLY?!?!? What can I say?? He's Amazing:)

We headed down Thursday night, so we could hang out and have some fun on Friday.  Poor Clint though woke up with some kind of stomach flu and spent the ENTIRE day in bed.  I really can't imagine how he recovered enough to run the next day.  He's a trooper!

So that left Terra and I spending the day at the pool watching the boys swim. What a hard life ;)

Oh and of course reading.....

Picking up his packet the night before the race.
First time out of bed all day.

He even came and hung out with me later that night while I worked out.  He's such a good sport.  I know he REALLY wanted to go back to bed.

Troy was lucky that the Tooth Fairy was able to find us on vacation!

I love how excited the boys get watching out for their daddy.

And he finishes!!!

Not too shabby!
You would have never guessed he was sick the day before.

Clint with one of his BIGGEST supporters!
His mom
He's such a momma's boy... I LOVE it!

It's tradition to stop at this gas station and sit in the HUGE rocking chair.

Utah Valley Marathon

He did it again!
26.2 miles
This was Clint's 2nd marathon this year.
I am so proud of him!

This was about 1/4 of a mile away from the finish line and it looks like he could run another 5 miles.  Really babe??? Can't you make it look like it was a little hard for you???

Finish Time 3:58

Clint and Brent
So glad that it is over!

St. George Marathon

I know I am way behind on my blog BUT better late than never right? I seems like we have one thing after another going on and I just can't keep up. I want things to slow down but with the holidays creeping up on us I don't see that happening anytime soon. A girl can always hope though!

The weekend of General Conference, Clint ran his 4th and final marathon of the year. He ran the St. George Marathon! YAY! YAY! YAY! What a FUN race to be at. Being at the finish line, I realized that this race is like no other race I have been to. The fans that are lining the streets seem like they are covering the last five miles of the race. I have never seen so many people at one race.

And what an emotional event! I found myself tearing up several times watching people cross the finish line. I asked Clint later on that day how he doesn't get emotional when he nears the end. I know for a fact that I would be bawling if I were the runner and had just finished 26.2 miles and was about the cross the finish line. I would be a wreck:)

What a accomplishment! He truly is an amazing person. He is such a determined man. When he puts his mind to something, there's no stopping him. He wanted to do four marathons and that's just what he did. It says a lot about a person who is willing to train and push themselves like no other. Good Job babe! I am so LUCKY to have you as my man! Love you!

Since Tanner was off track and the other two boys were still in school, he got to go down with us. It was fun to hang out with just him for a few days. It has been a long time since he has gotten to feel like a only child:) Thanks to my sweet mom for watching our other three kiddos!

On a little side note: While we were down there for the weekend, we went and saw the greatest movie! I think every parent (especially dads) should go and see this. Just make sure to take your tissues along. It is a tear jerker!

Top of Utah Marathon

On September 17th, my amazing hubby ran the Top of Utah Marathon. It was his 3rd this year! WOW! Talk about one determined runner. He signed up for the grand slam this year (4 marathons with St. George being the last one). I thought he was CRAZY when he signed up. Four marathons in a year is WAY TOO MANY! But he has proved us wrong:) It may be too many for some people, but not for him!

My three little boys all waiting near the finish line waiting for their hero to come!

At the finish line and he still has a smile on his face:)

Way to go Babe!!
We are so proud of you!

Charity 5k

My sweet mother-in-law signed up our family for a 5k. The company that she works for wanted to sponsor any employees and/or family members that wanted to run. I was a little skeptical to sign up the kids, but they did good. Tanner wants to do another race, the other boys not so much!

Tanner 32:21
No picture of him :(

I started the race with the kids. We ran all of 100 feet and then the complaining started. "How much farther?" "I'm thirsty." "Can we walk?" "Can you hold me?" Needless to say we walked (barely faster than a crawl) the race, BUT they made it:) Clint finished the race and then ran back and walked the last mile with us. I finally left them and ran the last hill:) WOW! So much for a run today:)

Carter and my niece Kennedie 54:00
Cute Tanner finished the race and waited for Troy, Carter and Kennedie to get close to the finish line so he could cross the line again with them. What a sweet boy!

Troy 54:15
My little trooper pulling up the rear

When we got done with the race, Carter asked if he could do it again next year. I was shocked. Did he really not remember how much he disliked it?!? He then went on to say that he really wanted to do it again but next time he was going to ride his bike:) lol

After the race, they had lots of fun activities for the kids to do. They had rock walls to climb, BB Gun Shooting range, Army Tanks and Helicopters on display and lots of free food and drinks. The kids loved that part of the race!

Thanks
