Nightly Routine

Every night Tanner will ask if I will come lay down with him until he falls asleep. Tonight being no different, I head into his room and he says his bedtime prayer. Tonight his cute prayer was directed toward how much he loves his two new cousins Bentley and Benson. We climb into his bed and I try to get him to go to sleep.

As we are lying in the dark, this is our conversation:

Tanner: "Mom, I'm amazed I have a bed."

Trying not to laugh because I have never heard him use the word "Amazed" before. I asked "What do you mean?"

Tanner: "Aren't you amazed that you have a bed to sleep in, warm blankets, this house, and a body that moves?"

Me: "Yah buddy I am"

Tanner: "So am I Mom. We have so much."

Wow! It's funny how a 7 year old can make you stop and think about all the things you should be grateful for. I love being able to lie down with Tanner at night, oh the things that go on in that little head of his. I am so thankful for my three little boys and all of the joy they bring into my life.

I love cute little conversations like that. Kids are so funny what they think about and how honest they can be at times. What a sweet little boy.

OOOH! I love that boy! Can we just plan for him to marry Olivia or Sabrina? Annie may be a little too young. :) What a sweetheart! I LOVE the cute little things that come out of kids mouths!

Oh cute Tanner! I'm so glad you blog about all the things your kids say. I can't believe how old he's getting! Hope to see you soon!

Oh the innocence of children. I love the spiritual side of Tanner. He is so close to our Heavenly Father. The veil is so thin for these little tykes. You've taught him well Shar! Good work. What a fun way for you to end your days. Bentley is sooo lucky to have such a great cousin to look up to. On Sunday it was cute because Tanner was trying to figure out how old Bentley would be when he was was a certain age. We went through all the numbers..."When I'm 20, how old will Bentley be? How old will I be when Bentley's my age?" He's so smart and always thinking! You should be so proud of him. We couldn't love you more Tanner!

What a great post Shari! I love those intimate conversations with my kids. They don't happen very often but when they do you cherish them so much. So sweet!
